“Feed-forward” and not just “feed-back”

Tell employees, how they can improve their quality than telling them that they have made errors.

Tell them, how to handle workload than telling them that they have missed timelines.

Tell them, how to treat customers than telling them that they suck in customer service.

Tell them what books to read than telling them they need to improve leadership skills.

Tell them what they can do or should do than telling them what they have not done.

Tell them how to be successful than telling them that they are failure.

Instead of just penalizing and beating up for what happened in the past, wouldn’t it make sense to focus on what you expect in the future and how to achieve it? Give “feed-forward” and not just “feed-back”. While feed-back is basis what has happened and why it has happened, feed-forward is about what to do and how to do right things to achieve results.

Feed-back is normal, feed-forward is remarkable.

  1. Mouli, This really impressed me. Excellent Thoughts.

All people managers should really read this and even if they try to follow, it will make a whale of difference
